Detailed Session Breakdown

Introductions and Objectives
We'll start the day with a brief introduction and outline the objectives. To encourage mingling, we'll mix up the group right from the start.

Creative Thinking Exercise
In small groups, students will engage in a creative activity designed to test leadership, management, delegation, resilience, and decision-making skills. This activity will be a touchpoint throughout the day.

Great Leader
In small groups, we'll look at famous leaders and discuss their attributes, linking these to the top ten traits of a leader.

‘Best Prefect’ – ‘Bad Prefect’
This session introduces the concept of emotional intelligence and its importance in leadership.

The Role of a School Prefect
Through a whole group discussion, we’ll explore the role of a prefect and the benefits of being one, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of their position.

What Others Need from You
In small group activities, prefects will identify what other pupils, prefects, and teaching/support staff need from them.

Communication Skills
We'll present key communication techniques and engage in small group activities to practice these skills, focusing on effective communication and reading body language.

Attitude and Behaviour
A presentation on how attitudes affect behaviour and how this, in turn, affects others, supported by practical examples.

What Would You Do If…?
Prefects will work in small groups to tackle scenarios they may encounter, applying what they've learned to develop practical solutions.

The One Thing
Each prefect will choose one personal development goal to focus on. This goal can be a talking point during future catch-up meetings.

Additional Information

Every prefect will receive a workbook to complete during the day and refer back to in the future, such as during interviews. The workbook includes a reflective activity for when they return to school, as well as the "one thing" activity for personal development, which can be reviewed by their 'line manager' in subsequent meetings.

This comprehensive and engaging course will ensure that your prefects are well-equipped to lead with confidence and skill.

You can either run it as a full day course or break it down in to two half days or four x two hour training sessions
